Job Summary:
This position will be located at the Plant Vogtle Unit 3&4 Construction Project in Waynesboro, GA and will report to the Construction Oversight & Quality Manager. The Construction Manager- BOP shall ensure the proper planning, coordination and oversight of construction activities associated with the Plant Vogtle Units 3&4 Nuclear Construction Project. Primary responsibilities for this position include:
Oversight of the Vogtle prime construction contractor and associated AP 1000 Balance of Plant work activities including, but not limited to, Turbine Island and associated systems, River Water Intake Structure, Cooling Towers, Circulating Water Systems, Ancillary Buildings and Yard/Underground Systems.
Summary of Position Duties:
Lead efforts to continuously improve the site's Nuclear Safety Culture and Safety Conscious Work Environment.
Ensure adherence to OSHA and Southern Company safety rules and safe work procedures including the Construction Safety Behavior Observation Program (STEP).
Effectively manage staff performance; determine and address personnel developmental needs.
Assist in the administration of the EPC contract as well as monitor contractor performance in relation to overall project safety, quality and schedule, and standards.
Ensure accountability and promote effective coordination of key project stakeholders regarding Balance of Plant and administrative work activities.
Perform miscellaneous assignments as directed by the Construction Oversight & Quality Manager.
Education & Job Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Building Science preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of engineering, heavy construction or construction management experience on large capital projects required.
Nuclear construction, engineering, maintenance or operations experience valued.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Previous experience in a leadership role required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of OSHA and Southern Company safety rules and safe work procedures and applicable environmental regulations.
Knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
Knowledge of construction contracts and labor agreements.
Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors and other parties connected with the project.
Ability to accurately appraise technical situations and recommend resolutions to problems.
Interpersonal, communications and strong leadership skills.
Other Attributes:
Strong supervisory skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to lead diverse groups with differing objectives toward a common goal.
Proven risk assessment skills and sound judgment/decision making skills are essential.
