Role Overview
This position is for Control Systems engineering services at nuclear facilities with work location in the Welch, MN area.
Plans and conducts independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems.
Working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines. Understands the standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating, and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered.
The Control Systems Engineer's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Development of project scope
Management of project schedule and budget
Walkdown of existing plant equipment
Generation of walkdown packages
Review system performance and provide recommendations to clients
Perform engineering studies
Support refueling outages
Support design change installation
Perform design change package closeout
Interact with clients and the home office design team
Review of supplier documentation
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have minimum ten years of control systems design engineering experience, five years of which are in nuclear power engineering
Bachelor or Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear Engineering or other related engineering field
Candidates must currently possess the eligibility to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
Candidates must be capable of passing nuclear security screening requirements and be able to obtain unescorted clearance to a nuclear power plant.
Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Candidate must be able to travel to nuclear and supplier facilities.
Familiarity with design basis requirements, including general design criteria, regulatory guides and industry standards
Preferred Qualifications
General understanding of BWR and PWR systems
Design experience of digital control systems such as ABB, Emerson (Ovation, DeltaV), GE (Mark VIe), Invensys (Foxboro I/A, TRICONEX)
General understanding of software controls, cyber security regulations, and IP networking
General understanding of EQ program Proficiency in PassPort, SharePoint, and eRoom
Power up-rate experience
Current Professional Engineering License
Work experience in system engineering, engineering programs, engineering support to maintenance/operations, licensing, work planning, engineering configuration control, and/or constructions.
