The person we seek will have specialization in high power radiofrequency systems (30 – 100 kW) and be capable of overseeing and coordinating all activities associated with the RF systems and related equipment of our cyclotrons. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

• Planning, overseeing, performing and documenting routine maintenance activities on ATG’s radiofrequency systems.

• Works towards optimization and maximum performance of ATG’s RF systems. Consults with other members of ATG to achieve this goal.

• Responsibility for troubleshooting and repairs on ATG’s RF systems.

• Responsibility for identifying, organizing, and executing development projects to increase the reliability and performance of ATG’s RF systems.

• Coordination with TRIUMF’s RF Group in maintenance work and development projects.

 

The position requires independent thinking, initiative, sound judgment and the application of specialized knowledge in resolving operational challenges. Demonstrated hands-on ability to troubleshoot, and maintain and repair RF equipment is required, as are excellent interpersonal, leadership and, communication skills. Experience in producing and maintaining technical documentation is also required.

 

The ideal candidate will have a degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, or a similar field, and at least 12 years of relevant experience, preferably with particle accelerators. Applicants must be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with APEG BC. The successful candidate will be trained and certified as Nuclear Energy Workers.
