Overview
The Mark VI system was introduced in 1999 for gas and steam turbine controls on generator and mechanical drives. This scalable control can be applied to small systems such as an industrial steam turbine control, large gas turbine control systems, and plant controls.
Training
All new hires will attend a 3-month formal classroom MK VI Controls Field Engineer paid training class (including lodging, meals, and travel) to be conducted at the GE Energy Learning Center in
Schenectady
,
NY
. After the formal classroom training, on the job training will commence depending on the individual’s specific knowledge and experience. Successful completion of training program is a minimum requirement.
Job Description
The Mark VI Controls Field Engineer duties include: Trace through the software documentation. Implement control constant modifications.
Reading
and modifying software sequencing. Operation and configuration of regulators. Creating and modifying graphics displays. Set up and modify the hardware and software associated with the Gas/Steam Turbine Control system. Implement control system software changes. Work with both DOS and Windows NT-based operator interfaces. Work with both analog and digital controls. Install and terminate wiring, complete functionality checks, and troubleshoot the turbine control system. Perform start-up/shut-down sequencing and turbine/generator operation. Control of costs – mistakes could be detrimental to the job cost. Position requires quality control, preservation, protection, security, and safekeeping of turbine modules, turbines, instruments, tools and accessories.
Job assignments can be either domestic or international, providing installation, maintenance, retrofits, commissioning and troubleshooting turbine control systems to utility, industrial, transportation, government and commercial customers.
Requirements
This position requires: gas/steam turbine controls, PLC and/or DCS experience. Strong interpersonal skills, technical competence, leadership ability, computer skills and willingness to travel are necessary to become a capable Field Engineer. Successful completion of training program is a minimum requirement. A current passport is beneficial.
General
We offer a competitive salary / hourly rate + billable-hour yearly requirement with a guaranteed base salary. Hourly rate applies only for hours worked in excess of contracted hours. No relocation is required or offered. You many continue to reside where you live as long as you live near an airport with jet service. While on site, living costs are covered by either per diem or expensed receipts depending on the job. This is a year-to-year contract with annual performance reviews and benefits.
