Location: Brunswick Nuclear Plant, Southport, NC
This position is for an Information Technology Analyst to work with nuclear power plant computer information systems. The primary duties of this position are to maintain assigned computer systems operational for use by plant operators and engineers in the safe operation of the nuclear power plant. This requires a detailed understanding and compliance with the customer¿s procedures, requirements, and processes in achieving high standards of reliability.
Responsibilities include:
¿System administration of computer hardware systems, network hardware equipment, and software systems.
¿Planning and executing maintenance activities on high availability computing equipment such that impact to users is minimized.
¿Management of technical aspects of assigned systems ensuring compliance with complex user, cyber security, and regulatory requirements.
¿Completion of assigned duties within the highest quality within aggressive due dates.
Minimum Requirements
¿A BS degree in computer science, or computer engineering or electrical engineering and 3-5 years of experience in work related to process information systems or control systems management is strongly preferred. Combinations of other equivalent experience and education will be considered.
¿Strong background in the business processes used in support of process information systems, configuration control, and software lifecycle management.
¿Demonstrated proficiency in developing software in structured programming languages such as Fortran, Pascal, C, or Java.
¿Experience with MS Windows NT/XP and Intel personal computers or servers including operating systems such as HP Unix, OpenVMS, QNX or other real time operating systems.
¿Strong communication skills both written and verbal and strong problem solving and analytical skills with ability to communicate detailed troubleshooting plans with peers and customers.
¿Ability to complete a rigorous training and qualification regime.
¿Must be able to multitask, work well within a team environment and achieve challenging goals with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
¿Nuclear real time computing systems analyst with experience in the implementation and management of plant process computers.
¿Experience with application development for site specific applications that interface with plant process computer systems.
¿Control room HMI display development using PMS AFORA, OSI/PI, R*TIME, PMS, or Honeywell DCS .
¿Experience with Cisco networking hardware and software protocols such as OPC, MODBUS, or Decnet.
¿Knowledge of power plant systems, nuclear reactor systems, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and digital control systems.
¿Experience with planning and executing small IT projects on assigned systems including communication, and change management aspects.
Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1-4 years like-work experience. Four years of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, or combination of education and like-work experience totaling 5 - 8+ years.
