Emergency Services Training Instructor (96225)
Job Description
This position is responsible for activities that involve but are not limited to fire brigade training and drills, first aid training and drills, confined space rescue team training and drills, and hot work fire watch training. The Emergency Services Training (EST) instructor will coordinate with other on-site sections and Wake County Public Safety personnel to schedule and accomplish the required training and drills for off-site fire departments, rescue squads, and hospitals.
-The selected candidate will develop and implement effective EST Program (Fire Brigade, First Responder, and Confined Space Rescue Team) ensuring the program meets all Federal, State, and Local regulations and Insurance requirements.
-The selected candidate will assume a leadership role in the training section, and must be able to provide effective training, instruction, and evaluation in the classroom and in-plant settings.
-The selected candidate must obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access, support the Outage organization during forced outages and scheduled refueling outages, serve as a shared resource in support of the nuclear fleet refueling outages, and support the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) by obtaining and maintaining qualification for ERO positions owned by the Training section.
Required Experience and Education:
-Five years direct experience in nuclear fire service/program or 7 years experience in either public or private sector of the fire service
-Current North Carolina Fire Instructor Certification or certification from a state that has reciprocity with North Carolina
-Current Emergency Medical Technician Certification from a state organization -America Heart Association (AHA)/CPR Instructor Certification
-A good working knowledge level of Microsoft Office suite of computer software including Word and PowerPoint
-Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal traits such as strong analytical, planning and organizational skills, proven presentation skills, strong project management skills, the ability to provide effective oral and written communication, a high degree of initiative and motivation, and high work standards
Desired Experience and Education:
-Associate in Applied Science in Fire Science Technology
-Working knowledge level of Indus PassPort
-Working knowledge of the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process
The selected candidate will possess and maintain the following qualifications as a minimum:
-North Carolina Fire Instructor Level II
-North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician -AHA / CPR Instructor
The selected candidate will acquire/possess and maintain the following qualifications as a minimum:
-Confined Space Rescue Instructor
-HNP Classroom and Laboratory Instructor
Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 1-4 years like-work experience. Four years of like-work experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree, or combination of education and like-work experience totaling 5 - 8+ years.
