POSITION: Human Performance Manager
LOCATION: Tiverton, Ontario
THE COMPANY: Bruce Power was created in 2001 as Canadas first private nuclear generator, and currently powers every fifth home, hospital and school in Ontario.
General Accountabilities:
Assist the Vice President and Senior Managers of their assigned Business Units in the development, implementation, and monitoring of a Human Performance program as an integral component of their Business Unit strategic plan.
On behalf of the Corporate Human Performance Manager, ensure Business Unit HU plans comply with Corporate Human performance initiatives and the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, Performance Objectives and Criteria.
Engage, mentor and advise the Vice President and the Senior Management team of their assigned Business Unit on all aspects of the corporate Human Performance and error reduction program.
In conjunction with the Corporate Human Performance Manager, develop procedures, methodologies, and guidelines to ensure compliance with Corporate Human Performance objectives and targets.
Develop and report on monthly and quarterly indicators to assess the effectiveness of the Business Unit Human Performance Program and recommend changes as required.
Oversee and manage the Field Observation and Coaching process within the Business Unit.
Analyze data from the Observation and Coaching, Corrective Action, and Self Assessment databases and develop targeted intervention initiatives to improve Human Performance deficiencies within the Business Unit.
Intervene in ongoing Business Unit activities to identify and resolve emergent Human Performance issues in a timely manner.
Coordinate and manage the activities of seconded staff in the effective implementation of the Business Unit Human Performance initiatives including the development and delivery of Dynamic Learning Activities.
Work with corporate and external subject matter experts to benchmark best practices and ensure that relevant operational experience is incorporated into Business Unit Human Performance initiatives.
Participate in or lead as required in significant Human Performance event investigations. Provide Business Unit input into Corporate Human Performance policy development.
Keep abreast of developments in the areas of Human Performance improvement and error reduction. Perform other duties as required.
Essential Knowledge:
University Degree in a related field (preference given to Human Factors, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Engineering, Science)
Formal training in Human Performance is considered an asset
Requires knowledge of business management, human behavior, adult learning, statistical and analytical concepts in order to effectively analyze existing practices and develop human performance improvement strategies.
Requires knowledge of project management and consulting concepts and methods to effectively develop, deliver and manage the Business Unit Human Performance plan.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
6 8 years in a similar role in a plant environment
3-5 years supervisory experience is considered an asset
Requires experience in analyzing and assessing performance deficiencies and recommending, designing, and implementing mitigation programs. Knowledge and experience in error reduction techniques is considered an asset.
Requires good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with senior management, and internal and external contacts during the development and communication of the Business Unit Human Performance plan
Change Management experience is considered an asset
